This summer was hectic in terms of sending students to conferences and volunteer opportunities abroad. Sending them, includes writting a a recommendation letter, applying and fundraising. This year global citizenship was able to assist three (3) students. Jenifer Foster attended the International Youth Leadership Conference held in Prague, July 22nd - 27th. Declan Galvin participated in the first US-Syria Leadership Conference with the American Mideast Leadership Network held in Syria, July 28 - August 12. And currently, Tatiana Rodriguez is teaching Latin dances and assiting with basic computer skills workshop to youths in the Philippines. She is volunteering with PHILCORPS Organization for the Underprivileged and will be there until August 22nd.
How about something local? Vanessa Van Arendonk and Declan Galvin interned with the United Nations Association of the United States of American (UNA-USA) Westchester/Putnam Chapter. Nischal Oli and Ashton Ngwena volunteered with Friendship Ambassadors Foundations Youth Assembly held in the United Nations.

CULTURE SHOCK! Week
Duchesne Center's Global Citizenship program starts the semester with a week-long cultural event. The objective of this program is to present cultures that are not well represented in Manhattanville. Last year, cultures from Indonesia, Nepal, Ukraine and Uganda were presented. This year, we will have Indian, Hawaiian, Korean, Mexican and Bulgarian.
